Detailed Itinerary >>

Surrounded by forested mountains and volcanoes at 9,350 feet above sea level, Quito is the second highest capital city in Latin America. Upon evening arrival, you will be met by our staff and transferred to your hotel.

Overnight: Mercure Hotel Quito

This morning take a guided tour of Colonial Quito’s cobbled streets, whitewashed adobe walls, and ornate balconies. See sites such as the Church of San Francisco, which was built by the Spaniards in the 16th century, and Independence Plaza. Enjoy a birds-eye view of the city from El Panecillo. After lunch, visit the Middle of the World monument; zero degrees latitude, where you can put one foot in each hemisphere. Enjoy dinner on your own this evening at one of the city’s wonderful restaurants.

Overnight: Mercure Hotel Quito (B, L)

Fly to the Galapagos this morning, and then take a small ferry across Itabaca Channel to the north shore of Santa Cruz Island. Travel by bus to El Chato Reserve, one of the best places in the archipelago to see giant tortoises in their natural habitat. You may also spot highland birds, including cattle egrets, mockingbirds, finches, and barn owls. Afterward, drive to the town of Puerto Ayora to board your yacht.

Overnight: La Pinta (B, L, D)

This morning disembark on a beautiful olivine beach, and follow a trail that leads to an old water hole used by former settlers in the 1900s. There are also boobies, land birds, and beautiful views to enjoy. After the walk, you may opt to snorkel in Whale Bay or take a panga ride along the shoreline. The tiny island of Sombrero Chino gets its name from its appearance: a Chinese hat. Your afternoon visit may reveal marine iguanas, lava lizards, Galapagos Penguins, and Sally Lightfoot Crabs. The cove offers an excellent opportunity to swim with harmless white-tipped reef sharks and tropical fish.

Overnight: La Pinta (B, L, D)

Disembark at Bartolome Island for a hike to the summit. The view from the top is worth the effort. Then snorkel off the beach or take a ride on the glass-bottom boat. After lunch, visit a white coral sand beach and walk over lava that flowed less than 100 years ago.

Overnight: La Pinta (B, L, D)

Take an easy stroll this morning to view thousands of birds – frigates, Red Footed and Masked Boobies, gulls, herons, finches, and mockingbirds among them. You may then opt for a walk over sharp lava and uneven terrain for dramatic views, or else return to the beach to enjoy snorkeling or kayaking at Darwin Bay. This afternoon, climb Prince Philip’s Steps to observe Genovesa Island’s large colonies of masked boobies, frigate birds, and storm petrels. Those not wishing to disembark can enjoy a panga ride along the stunning cliffs.

Overnight: La Pinta (B, L, D)

Return to the airport for your return flight to Quito. Lunch and dinner today are on your own.

Overnight: Mercure Hotel Quito (B)

Transfer to the airport for flights home. (B)
